The Chronicle Herald “standout tunes”

Stephen Cooke from The Chronicle Herald had this to say about the Gordie Sampson Songcamp Circle at Nova Scotia Music Week in Yarmouth in November 2011:

“Antigonish’s Molly Thomason and Cape Breton native Carleton Stone. Both continue to develop their onstage presence, as they demonstrated earlier at the Gordie Sampson Song Camp Circle at Yarmouth’s Art Gallery of Nova Scotia branch.

The afternoon session was a great proving ground for developing talent, with standout tunes from Breagh MacKinnon — whose Harbour Town could just as well convey life in Yarmouth — and Natalie Lynn, with a sweet voice that belied the tough-as-nails sentiment of I Don’t Need You, written with Stone.

Special mention goes to one of my favourite emerging performers in the Song Camp crowd, elfin songstress Mo Kenney, who is able to create a special mental picture and atmosphere with every song, and whose upcoming CD produced by Joel Plaskett is bound to be something special.”
